E-Z Irrigator Instructions
THANK YOU for your purchase of the E-Z IRRIGATOR! We developed this product for the gardening enthusiast who wishes to irrigate like the professionals in modern agriculture. The products in this kit are the same as farmers use on 100-acre plots!
This type of irrigation delivers water directly to the root zone of your plants
eliminating wasted water. Plus it keeps water off of your plants foliage
minimizing the chance for fungus and blemishes to develop on your vegetables.
ASSEMBLY of the E-Z IRRIGATOR is quite simple. Enclosed is a PARTS LIST and EXAMPLE LAYOUT of how you can set up a typical garden. (The design possibilities are endless so some planning and figuring will be required on your part!)
STEP 1 - Layout a garden hose to the mid- point of your garden. Attach the pressure regulator/filter assembly to your hose. (It threads right onto the end!) The hose to 16MM fitting is included in the filter/pressure regulator assembly.
STEP 2 - Push one end of the 16MM blue stripe hose onto the 16MM fitting, pulling the circular ring over top of the tubing to secure it to the fitting. Roll the 16MM tubing out to the end of your garden. Use the hose clips (looks like a large staple) to secure the tubing to the ground. Cut the tubing. Repeat the process in the other direction.
STEP 3 - @ each end of the 16MM tubing, use the Figure 8 clamp to close off the tubing. Insert the 16 MM tubing in 1 hole of the figure 8, letting it slide about 6 inches onto the tubing. Bend the tubing over (making it crimp) and slide the figure 8 back toward the tubing's end, inserting the end into the second hole.
STEP 4 - USE the hole punch to make a hole @ the beginning of each row you want to irrigate. Once you've made the hole, insert the small barbed end of the16MM to drip tubing connector into the 16MM tubing (you will feel it snap into place). NOTE: each 16MM to drip tubing connector has a valve built into it. Use a flat head screw driver to turn the valve on & off (when the slot is parallel to the valve it is "on"; guess what it means when the slot is perpendicular to the valve!)
STEP 5 - Connect the drip tubing to the other end of the 16MM X drip tubing connector. It will fit snuggly onto the large barb and you will rotate the spinlok clockwise so it spins onto the tape, securing it in place. Use a rake or shovel handle to hold the spool of drip tubing and run the tubing out to the end of the row. @ the end of the row, leave yourself 8-10 inches extra and cut the drip tubing. Tie the drip tubing in a single knot. (If you want to do it like the pros
.try this: cut a 3 inch piece from the end; fold the drip tubing back twice; insert the folded end into the 3 inch cut piece, sliding it over the fold like a jacket. Watch Out
some one might call you FARMER!)
STEP 6 - TURN on the water and watch your crop produce like it has never produced before!!!
SOME THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW!
- Your DRIP TUBING will clog if dirt gets in it! If you suspect that dirt got in during installation
open both ends of the 16mm tubing and all ends of the drip tubing. Let water flow openly through the lines until they are clear!
- The FILTER on your pressure regulator/filter assembly needs to be cleaned. There is a cap screwed onto the end of the filter
remove the cap - remove screen & rinse - replace filter & cap! We recommend this ONCE per WEEK!
- Your DRIP TUBING uses .4 gallons per minute (GPM) per 100'. Soooo
if for example you had 16 runs @ 100' ea., your total flow would be 6.4 GPM! (Typical house faucet will produce 8-10 GPM). NOTE: If you DO NOT have enough water supply to run your whole garden @ one time, use the shut off valves on the 16MM to Drip Tubing Connectors to create zones for irrigation!
- Your DRIP TUBING can be run in lengths up to 500' and still provide uniform coverage! (Remember your water usage rate from above!)
- Your DRIP TUBING is a disposable product! After it's first year of use algae can form and clog the emitters. We will provide you the address for purchasing replacement Drip tubing or additional fittings below.
- Your E-Z IRRIGATOR is the MOST efficient way to water your garden! For best watering practices
monitor the soil moisture in your garden to make certain you are not under or over watering.
